Crane Electrician — Port of Morehead City

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Perform duties to ensure the safe and productive life of electrical drive systems, electronic controls, electro-hydraulic systems, and attachments installed on gantry, container, mobile cranes, and supporting equipment. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and methodical troubleshooting in a manner in which minimizes downtime. Construct, maintain, and test associated system components and controls.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan, execute, and accomplish tasks with a wide degree of latitude.
  • Has a comprehensive working knowledge of 500-volt AC/DC systems, AC/DC conversion drives, electrical schematics/ blueprints, and diesel electric power plants.
  • Analyzes crane electrical drive malfunctions and diagnoses the cause or causes therein.
  • Perform and update preventive maintenance logs and interface with supervision for scheduling.
  • Service and repair the following: crane lighting, shore power systems, DC electrical drives and their associated motor/generator units, motor controls, electronic weighing systems, wind monitoring systems, electric braking, and electro-hydraulic systems.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of various test equipment including: Volt/Ohm meter, megohmmeter, amp meter, infrared temperature sensing, and oscilloscope.
  • Operate shop equipment such as power tools, drill press, forklifts, man lifts, etc.
  • Maintain an electrical library for easy reference to crane electrical schematics and electrical resources, and ensure that accurate and legible prints are readily accessible aboard each crane.
  • Maintain a troubleshooting log that defines electrical problems and the necessary steps and materials required for immediate correction.
  • Conduct live power checks on 500-volt circuits.
  • Adhere to back-up plan to ensure an electrician is readily available at all times during crane operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
The requirements are as follows but not limited to: high school diploma or equivalent; 3-5 years of experience in the electrical field or a related field; must be familiar with a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures related to electrical work. May be required to complete formal training in areas of specialty. Must be able to tolerate and work at heights of more than 200 feet. Must have valid North Carolina driver’s license. Basic computer knowledge for data entry and email usage required. Must be able to safely operate support equipment and testing gear.

VP Sales, Beneficial Cargo Owners — Port of Wilmington

Summary:
The North Carolina State Ports Authority is seeking a seasoned maritime sales professional to join the executive team as VP of Sales. This is one of two VP Sales positions at NCSPA. This new role will focus on developing strong, profitable, value-based new business and maintaining existing relationships with beneficial cargo owners (BCO’s). The successful candidate will develop a compelling, mutually beneficial integrated product offering that is sustainable and consistent with NCSPA’s business strategies. He or she will manage customer relationships by offering excellence in a committed and consistent manner, and will engage customers at the senior management level for optimum penetration and exposure inside the customer’s organization.

Required Qualifications & Experience:
At least 10 years’ demonstrated successful experience in creating significant business growth through marketing and sales at the executive level for marine terminal or transport service providers. The successful candidate will have current relationships with top BCO’s and possess in-depth market knowledge with a strong background in research and analysis. He or she will be a skilled negotiator of complex transportation agreements and be a high achiever with the utmost integrity and team orientation. The VP Sales (BCO) will have previous management experience and will be responsible for supervising, coaching and mentoring a team of up to four sales and customer service staff. Requirements include exceptional verbal and written skills, experience creating powerful proposals, and the ability to create and deliver professional, influential presentations to small and large audiences.

Minimum Education Required:
Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred.
